Review & Wrap up day

Here is the crap stuff you have to do today:

  1. Okay, okay.  Its just WAY too much clicking for me to do this when I can have each of you spend 2 minutes doing it for yourselves: Please copy the hyperlink for your presentation onto the "CAN EDIT" document below.
    • Copy the URL of your Presentation or PowerPoint: MAKE SURE YOUR SHARE PERMISSIONS ARE FOR ANYONE! Google doc people I'm looking at you    :|
    • Highlight the case that you did your presentation on
    • Click "Insert" and then "hyperlink"
    • Paste your URL in there in replacement of the wikipedia url...push the back button: you are done.
  2. Complete your Supreme Court Case excel document
    • Make sure both your excel doc and your presentation are on the SAME tab in your OneNote.
3. Work on your Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Current event (due tomorrow).
    • This should be a separate tab on your OneNote
    • There are a LOT of things going on right now in the news.  If you cannot find one, why not just go to oyez.org and find a supreme court case that has been decided this term?  That seems easy to me.
      • Summarize the event/case
      • Describe specifically how it applies to this unit
      • Give a specific description of your opinion USING details and nuances from the event/case
4. Review for the exam tomorrow

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

    • Background of the Case
      • Events, lower court decisions
    • The Courts decision
      • Which "court" heard the case (ex: the Roberts Court)
      • Which Amendment & Specific right was addressed
      • What was the vote by the court?
      • The rational used in the Majority Opinion
      • Anything notable about Minority Opinion
      • The immediate and long-term impact of the precedent
Work time includes today only.  Presentations are Friday, Monday & Tuesday.

BOR and Court Cases

FINALLY finish B.O.R. Notes

Tests--Brief Discussion.  I'd add to your BOR notes.

Court Case Work

  • We are getting a partner and using the document at the bottom of my AP webpage called Case Category work (I didn't attach it here on the blog)  Press the Down arrow on the right to download it.
  • You and your partner will work to complete the bolded cases on the excel document to help you study for the exam(s)
  • You'll use Lowi and the internet to complete the bolded cases--be brief, this is a study document not a full fledged report (the unbolded cases are going to be used to present on and you'll fill those out when you see the presentations)
  • Save your document somewhere--I'd save it to the desktop of your computer to work on it and then upload it to your OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) when you are finished for the day
  • We will work on this as needed tomorrow.

Reminders:
Chapt. 4 Core Assignment and Chapter 4 Quiz are tomorrow
